What DPI do I need for printing?
For high-quality prints like photos and fine art, aim for 300 DPI. For everyday prints like posters or large wall art viewed from a distance, 150 DPI looks perfectly fine. 72 DPI is for screens only and will look pixelated when printed.
How do I find the pixel dimensions of my image?
You can upload your image directly to this calculator and it will detect the dimensions automatically. On iPhone, open the photo in the Photos app, tap the info button (i), and you'll see the pixel dimensions. On desktop, right-click the file and check Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).
Can I enlarge a photo to print it bigger?
You can upscale an image, but it won't add real detail. The original pixels just get stretched, which leads to a soft or blurry result. If you need a large print, start with the highest-resolution image you have. For best results, keep the DPI above 150 at your desired print size.
What's the difference between DPI and PPI?
PPI (pixels per inch) describes the density of pixels in a digital image. DPI (dots per inch) technically refers to the number of ink dots a printer puts on paper. In practice, most people use the terms interchangeably, and for calculating print sizes, they work out the same way: pixels divided by DPI (or PPI) gives you the print size in inches.
